about the blog/me

The blog:
  • "Dream Home" is a goal, not a reality.  To make a real home, I think you have to put a lot into it yourself.  I love furniture/art/accents that mean something.
  • A dream home is not a dream house.  If this was my dream house, I would have a dishwasher.  And a door to the backyard.  And the house would clean itself.
  • I do love my house, though.  It was built in 1950 by my husband's grandpa, and it's the place my father in law grew up.  All the history with the house is part of the reason why I love/want things inside the house that have meaning.
This is how the house looked when we first moved in.  Quite a few things have changed already- the huge pine tree is gone, there are new windows, and the curb around the lawn is gone.

About me:
  • I'm a wife and a mostly stay at home mom.
  • When I'm not staying at home, I'm teaching some geology classes at a local university (it's the best part time job ever- I only work about 4 hours a week, and only during the school year).
  • I love sewing, crafting, painting, thrifting, and gardening (if it's not too hot).
  • Besides that, I love to read, make lists, play the piano, and cook.
  The three of us.
These two melt my heart.
She loves this pinwheel, I love this picture.

Hey! I'm all about dream homes. We will be moving into our "dream home" at the end of this year. I have ideas coming out of my ears. :-) I totally believe you have to put all you have in your home to make it yours.
We are in the middle of a blizzard and happened to find your a DIY tutorial on embellishing flower petals on a "t". Thought it would be fun to do. However, can't seem to find the tutorial on-line. Can you please help??

Good luck to you with your Dream Home.
